Spaced repetition

What is spaced repetition?

It’s a learning method that helps you remember things for a long time, rather than just until tomorrow.

Instead of studying the same information over and over in one session, you review it at increasing intervals. For example, you review today, then in a few days, then a week later.

Why increasing intervals?

The more you review something, the stronger your memory becomes. As a result, you can wait longer between reviews, which means memorising more in less time!

What is spaced repetition best for?

Spaced repetition is especially effective for learning vocabulary, facts, formulas, and concepts.

Can I use spaced repetition to prepare for an exam?

Absolutely! But you should make sure you have enough time to review your material several times.

What is special about spaced repetition with Everycards?

You can turn spaced repetition on and off for a specific album of cards, at any time.

You can review all spaced repetition albums at once as one mixed session, right from the app home view.

You can adjust spaced repetition parameters (duration, amount of revisions, etc.) in a visual editor.

How do I use spaced repetition in Everycards?

1. Go to the album you want to enable spaced repetition on, find the Study Options button, and turn on Spaced Repetition.

2. Adjust the spaced repetition parameters as you like.
NOTE: the interactive diagram shows the schedule for one example card, not for all spaced repetition cards.

3. Review cards regularly. If you’re confident you know a card’s answer, mark it as learned so it won’t appear again until it resets automatically.

4. Everycards will reset learned cards to “Not Yet” according to the schedule that you’ve set.

What is the Exam Date? How does it affect spaced repetition?

The Exam Date does not affect spaced repetition.

It’s only a visual indicator to help you plan effective spaced repetition, or decide to stop using it if you don’t have enough time for multiple reviews.

There is also a reminder to help you build a daily repetition routine, which is the most important part.
